Boston Children’s Museum
The 40 foot high, red and white milk bottle at the front of the building signifies you have arrived at the Boston Children’s Museum – a fun few hours for children and the child in all of us. The museum reopened in 2007 following a huge redevelopment which saw a massive 23,000 square feet of space added to this converted warehouse. The museum is dedicated to learning, playing and adventure, focusing on child development through fun, interactive activities such as the Science Playground (where you can create huge bubbles), Boats Afloat (which features a replica of the bridge section of a working boat) and Boston Black – which celebrates Boston’s black history through music and culture.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts
Boston’s answer to the Met Art Museum is one of the highlights of any visit to the city. At the time of writing the museum is undergoing an expansion project to make it even more impressive than it already is. Here you will find an assortment of famous French Impressionist paintings, with the Museum of Fine Arts boasting the largest collection of Monet paintings outside of Paris and also the largest selection of Japanese art outside the country itself.

Opened in 2006, the 65,00 square foot museum is a true celebration of the arts in North America with installations that will entertain even the most lay art fan.

Boston Museum of Science

No visit to Boston can be complete without spending at least a morning or afternoon in the Museum of Science. Here you will find demonstrations, interactive displays, experiments and concepts introduced to you in an effortless and fun fashion so everyone goes home learning something new, without finding the science involved a chore! More than 500 exhibits are to be explored under one roof where you can find out such things as how much you would weigh if you were on the moon, or experience what it would be lie to sit in a space module. The museum is easy to navigate around as it is broken up into ‘activity centres', which give particular dedication to a field of science. ‘Beyond the X-Ray' is particularly interesting, which looks at medical imaging techniques, allowing for would-be doctors to diagnose ‘patients' medical problems. Another fun exhibit is ‘Science in the Park', which looks at Newton's physics through playground equipment - especially fun if bringing children.

Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology

The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology is perhaps most famous for the Hall of the North American Indian, where you will find more than 500 artefacts representing the different cultural aspects of the aforementioned natives. Photographs, clothing, art, pottery and crafts fill the gallery, celebrating centuries of life. Those looking to further their interest in North American Indian life should check ahead on the Peabody Museum's website for special lectures (often conducted by world-famous scientists), which occur frequently during the year.
