Cork Airport (www.corkairport.com) is Ireland’s thirds largest (after Dublin and Shannon) and is located just five miles south of the city in Ballygarvan. Cork Airport serves as an important hub in Ireland for low cost airlines, with Aer Lingus, Ryanair and Aer Arran all basing aircraft there and offering low-cost fares to UK destinations.

 

Airlines flying to/from Cork Airport from the UK:

  • Aer Arann – Belfast City Airport, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Galway, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford and Southampton.
  • Aer Lingus – Birmingham, London Heathrow and Manchester.
  • Air Southwest - Newquay and Plymouth.
  • BMI Baby – Birmingham and Manchester.
  • Jet 2 – Newcastle.
  • Ryanair – Liverpool, London Gatwick and London Stansted.


Cork Airport is served by two shuttle bus services. Ireland’s main coach operator Bus Eireann runs regular coaches from the airport both to Cork and various destinations around Ireland. A single fare from the airport to the city centre costs just €3.70 and takes around 15 minutes. Skylink Cork also run services from the terminal building departing every half hour, costing €5 for a single and €8 for a return.

Taxis are also an alternative, with fares to most city centre destinations costing around €12.

By Coach

The principal coach company operating between the UK and Ireland is Eurolines , who operate services from a number of British towns, who tend to cross with Irish Ferries. Eurolines commonly offer extremely competitive prices on their Irish crossings, although some require numerous changes on the way to Cork.

By Car

After crossing the Irish Sea by ferry you will usually arrive in Dublin. From Dublin, Cork is 155 miles away; however the journey is smooth and quick thanks to a number of recently upgraded roads, namely the N8, which will be the main road that takes you south for the majority of your journey.
