Resort description
Borovets in Bulgaria’s largest ski resort, gaining a popular reputation as an economical and lively choice for a ski holiday. The resort itself dates back to 1896 but facilities are modern and well maintained.
The resort has a number of snow cannons but its snow record is reputed as one of the best in Eastern Europe. This is the ideal place for learn how to ski with gentle nursery slopes and an excellent ski school with English speaking instructors. There is also a ski kindergarten for those aged between 4 and 8 years.
The ski area is divided into three regions: Sitnqkovo, Markudjik and Qstrebec. The latter is considered the best and has been used in the past for World Cup competitions.
Intermediates will find a variety of runs, accessed by an efficient lift system (comprising drag lifts, baby tows, seat chain lifts, plus a gondola and carpet lift). And more advanced skiers can test their skills on the World Cup run or with some off-piste skiing.
Borovets is fairly compact with a pedestrianised shopping centre and an excellent selection of cafes and restaurants serving everything from international cuisine to traditional local dishes. In fact eating out represents excellent value for money with a 3 course dinner coming in at approximately £10.
The resort is also well known for its lively nightlife and there are plenty of bars and nightclubs.
Away from the slopes there are plenty of other activities to keep your party amused, including snowmobile safaris, bowling, swimming pool, sleigh rides.
