Venice Carnevale (9th - 20th February 2006) |
 |
|
Venice is the capital of the Veneto region of Italy, an area famed for its vineyards, lemon groves, cultured Verona and scenic Lake Garda. This floating city can be at its most romantic in the winter - a silvery mist haunts the backstreet canals, the pale winter sunshine shimmers over the lagoon and couples stroll hand in hand, unimpeded by the many tourists that visit in the summer months.
That said, the weeks preceeding Lent are amongst the busiest of the year when visitors flock to experience the highlight of the Venetian calendar - the Carnevale.

Happy New Year to you all and thank you to all those who entered our Christmas Champagne competition. The lucky winner was Jim McKenna from Glasgow. But don't worry if you didn't win this time, enter our Valentine's competition and you could also be celebrating with champagne and chocolates!
February half term is already proving popular with customers wanting to beat the post Christmas blues and escape the winter doldrums. Car hire from the airports serving the ski resorts is in high demand, particularly for Geneva, Milan and Zurich so if you are thinking about skiing or snowboarding this February, I'd advise you to act sooner rather than later. Ski packs are now on sale at locations across France, remember to book yours at the same time as reserving your car.
