This is without doubt our busiest time of year and demand for hire cars is high. I hate to see disappointed customers so to help you plan ahead, I’ve put together a list of “Hot Spots” for the forthcoming winter. These are destinations which, unlikely as it may sound, tend to struggle for last minute availability so the earlier you secure your choice of vehicle the better. With summer holidays well underway, this month’s “destination spotlight” is exploring part of America which is also popular in the Fall. Maine in New England is a destination that indeed warrants a car to explore fully and, to inspire you further, we’ve pulled together some suggested touring routes and hotel offers. Last month we were inundated with entries for our Top Tips competition and I’d like to thank you all for sharing your experiences. Entries were of a consistently high standard and it was a hard decision but the winning Top Tip can be found below. | Top Tips | |

Thank you to everyone who entered the competition. It’s clear that you all have a wealth of driving experience to share and the standard of entries was so good that we’ve decide to print some the Runners-up over the next few months. But July’s Top Tip and the winner of our July competition comes from Katie Lewis from Cornwall. “When travelling in California, I decided to take the famously picturesque Highway 1 North from Beverly Hills to Monterey. However, I was so awed by the beauty of the beaches and the proximity of the endearing sea otters and magnificent elephant seals when I stopped for a breather at Piedras Blancas, that I totally lost track of time! As I continued on my journey it became progressively more difficult to appreciate the spectacular scenery as fog and darkness began their reign, surprisingly early it seemed to me. Soon I could no longer see beyond the head-lit portion of the dramatically steep, narrow and twisting road ahead………” |
