
Recipe for Mulled Wine
Ingredients
1 bottle red wine (claret, cabernet sauvignon or merlot are good
– choose a wine with a deep full fruit flavour)
- 75ml port
- 2 oranges (cut into slices)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 lemons (sliced)
- A few cloves to taste
- 4 tsp caster sugar
Serves 6
Instructions
Pour the red wine in a non-corrodible pan and begin to heat. Add the fruit slices, sugar, cloves and port and heat gradually for 15-20 minutes. Do not allow to boil or you risk spoiling the taste. Strain and serve hot, garnished with a cinnamon stick if desired.
