Pick up a bargain
Search out a bargain at the immense Limoges flea market (held the second Sunday in every month).  Other local places of interest include the Cathedral of St Etienne, the village of Oradour Sur Glane (left exactly as it was following the village massacre in 1944) and Le Pavillon de la Porcelaine (where you can witness the artistry involved in making porcelain and then buy at factory prices).

Carnival season!
Enjoy a carnival atmosphere in the ski resort of Livigno this weekend.  Join in the free Fancy Dress Party at the Plaza Placheda on Saturday and then enjoy the Carnival Parade through the town on Sunday.

With over a million expected participants, Berlin will be jumping to the carnival beat on Sunday 18th February.  The colourful procession will start close to the Bradenburg gate at Kurfurstendamm / Lietzenburger Strasse around the city to the finale in Ernst-Reuter Platz. The Vikings are coming!
For something a bit closer to home, take the family back through time to the Yorvik Viking Festival in York.  There will be street performers, storytellers, live music and a lively procession through the town to recreate the area’s historic past.

A zesty display!
The 74th Menton Lemon Festival (17 Feb to 7 March) takes its inspiration from India this year, boasting 20 days of street performers, music and costumes.  Visit all four corners of the globe as the Bioves Gardens celebrate the carnivals of the world (opening hours at the weekend are from 9h to 19h) and enjoy the “parade aux fruits d’or” along the “Promenade du Soleil” on Sunday 25th. If you can come a few days earlier you can also enjoy the Children’s Carnival on Tuesday 20th and the firework display on Thursday 22nd.
