Although Las Vegas is a popular year-round destination, the Fall sees the humidity of the summer ease off, offering a more comfortable climate in which to enjoy the dazzling lights and attractions of the city.
As well as the usual casinos and the star-studded shows, there is much more on offer this Fall.
The Beatles’ ‘Love’ Cirque du Soleil is unique to Las Vegas and makes for a fantastic circus experience, whilst the famous mortician Gunther von Hagens, brings his ‘Bodyworlds’ exhibition to the city this fall - a controversial, yet fascinating display of human-specimens, preserved to give an unbelievable insight into the human body.
Like New York, Las Vegas is a major city which provides a gateway to some incredible settings in which to enjoy the fall foliage. Out in Nevada you are greeted with high mountains, aspen trees, poplars and cottonwoods beaming in shades of beautiful golds and yellows.
The route to Spring Mountains is closest to the city, with the colours of the aspen trees changing from the third week of September. As you drive towards the mountains along Highway 57 you will encounter the formidable falls of Kyle Canyon, where an inimitable display of gold and yellow foliage include themselves into the incredible views of the surrounding Nevada State once you reach Spring’s summit.
Another popular route is that along U.S 93 towards the Great Basin National Park, which encompasses the Wheeler Park Scenic Road. This route offers constant golden foliage and includes a stop at the amazing underground growths of the Lehman Caves.
If travelling to Nevada solely to enjoy the foliage season, the 430 mile drive from Las Vegas to ‘Nevada’s Alps’, the Ruby Mountains is truly awesome. The fall scenery at the Lamoille Canyon is breathtaking before you head through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and up to Ruby Mountains, where you can enjoy unrivalled panoramas of Nevada in its most picturesque form.
