An archipelago in the western Mediterranean Sea, the Balearic Islands located near the coast of Spain form one of the Autonomous Communities of the nation. This Mediterranean paradise has an excellent climate with some three hundreds days of sun each year, in addition to superb beaches, a rich cultural heritage, and unusually fantastic customs in hospitality. Accordingly, the Community's capital Palma de Mallorca sees more passengers at its airport than does any other Spanish city. While many visitors have made the Islands their permanent home, others have felt that they'd never like to return to their other homes.
Each of the Islands has a personality of its own. You'd love Menorca, Mallorca and Ibiza for their unique attractions. Cabrera, too, is a very beautiful place. The Pirate Fortress located close to the port of Cabrera is certainly worth a visit. The most gorgeous part of this island perhaps is its lonely coast with the qualities of an out of this world meditation spot. If lucky, you will be able to observe the play of the dolphins from here. Cova Blanca is an interesting cave located in the bay Cala Gandulf. Inside the cave you can experience extraordinary reflections of light!
Formentara is yet another peerless attraction of the Balearic Islands. Take a ferry from Ibiza to arrive at the wonderful beaches of Formentara. There are several villages here. At La Sabina you will be able to see those typical white-washed houses you imagined you would see. Las Salinas is at the narrowest part of the island and offers amazing landscapes. Then there is San Fernando, located in the midst of large pine woods ending at the beaches of Pujols and Mitjorn.
The cuisine of Balearic Islands is especially worth looking forward to as well. Astonishingly varied and with a great reputation in all Spain, distinctive Balearic foods are made with over six hundred recipes! You'll just have to wait and see what appeals to you most out of everything on offer for tourists on the Balearic Islands, and we trust there is a lot!
