For wandering in Naples, travellers should head for the delightful Spaccanapoli quarter, the historic centre (centro storico), with its palazzi, imposing Baroque creations and idyllic piazzas.

Just outside Naples are the fascinating archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the two Roman cities buried by the eruption of Mont Vesuvius in 79AD. Capri, Sorrento and Ravello are all within easy travelling distance.
