Croatia has begun to rebuild the magnificence it once displayed after the war and with it has come an array of tourists, returning to the Mediterranean coast and enjoying the rich heritage of this great country. Croatia has many attractive tourist sites for all types of people from naturalist beaches to Roman palaces; Croatia contains a wealth of culture and attractions.
Croatia was the first to create a naturalist beach on the island of Rab in 1934 called Paradise Beach. Since then Croatia has been one of the friendliest naturalist destinations in the world. There are now thirty official naturalist beaches in Croatia and many hotels and resorts offer a clothing optional or unofficial beach. These are part of the more than 1000 islands that Croatia is waiting for you to explore.
Beaches have always been Croatia's main attraction. The Adriatic coast is decorated with Croatian beaches and islands with numerous ports, bays, and marinas. There are 3,600 miles of beautiful seacoast that lines Croatia's main land as well as its islands. It is the perfect place to enjoy your summer, basking in the sun, immersing yourself in the clearest water in the Mediterranean and relaxing on the greatest beaches in the world.
If you go a little inland, you will end up in the beautiful white marble streets of Dubrovnik or venturing even further into Croatia will lead you to the heart of Split and gorgeous palace of Diocletian. The streets of Dubrovnik are Croatia's top inland sight and most visited destination. The city is encircled by massive walls and inside the walls is the showy architecture of the Renaissance. The city's entrance is one of most impressive in the world called the Pile Gate with massive doors both Gothic and Renaissance style doors. The monasteries and cloisters that are located all over the city show exquisite architecture. This city is a one of a kind place that is definitely worth visiting.
The other spectacular site is the palace of Diocletian, built in the recognition of his birth city Salona, near Split. The ten year construction during the end of the third century helped create a city within a city, a place unlike Versailles or Madrid. The palace is dominated by the beautiful symmetric shapes that adorn it. It has beautiful circular temples honoring Venus as well as the octagonal domed mausoleum and even Egyptian sphinxes located in the palace, showing the great spread of knowledge across the Roman Empire. The palace is an amazing piece of architecture, epitomizing the geometric constructions of the Greeks and Romans.
Croatia is a great place to visit and I only mentioned some of the amazing places to visit and things to do. Croatia is a melting pot of culture and the perfect place to experience the Mediterranean life.
