Saskatoon is a city located in central Saskatchewan, Canada, on the South Saskatchewan River. Its population is more than 200,000 people, a considerable part of whom are of German, Scandinavian and Ukrainian origin. Saskatoon is known as The City of Bridges for its seven river crossings.

Saskatoon Centennial Auditorium is the city's major arts venue. It regularly hosts concerts, theatrical performances, live events, high school graduation and university convocation ceremonies, and conventions. Saskatoon Symphony is also located here. The Credit Union Centre is one more place for major shows and concerts with the largest arena in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon also has its own Native Theatre and Opera. Station Arts Centre is an award-winning renovated CN Station that has been converted into an art gallery, seminar space, tea room and a performing arts theatre, providing a unique cultural experience.

Saskatoon hosts quite a few interesting galleries. Just minutes of walk from downtown there is Riverhouse Gallery located in a beautiful character house overlooking the scenic South Saskatchewan River. It is a wonderful place to browse through art works of local artists and have coffee at your leisure. Pacific Gallery is a showcase for Canadian original art, including pottery, blown glass and jewelry. Other displays of local artists can be found in Art Placement Gallery, Collector's Choice Art Gallery, Darrell Bell Gallery and Saskatchewan Craft Council. There are several museums in the city, presenting the region's history and development, including Western Development Museum, Saskatchewan Railway Museum and Ukrainian Museum of Canada. Saskatoon's Indian Centre maintains the cultural identity of the Indian cultures of Saskatchewan: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota and Lakota.

Saskatoon's religious places of interest include Shrine of Our Lady of the Prairies, established in 1982 and St. John's Anglican Cathedral - an excellent example of Gothic Revival architecture. The Cathedral has the highest church spire in western Canada and is ranked among the top ten most beautiful churches in the region.

Saskatoon has a number of natural attractions and offers a selection of recreational activities. The city's beautiful parks provide an excellent opportunity to relax or participate in sporting events. Two Heritage parks, Wanuskewin Heritage Park and Heritage Rose Garden are natural displays of Indian culture and prairies' plants. One of the favourite sites of the city residents and visitors is Saskatoon Zoo & Forestry Farm Park, a combination of outdoor playing opportunities and a home for over 350 animals and birds.
