Montreal International Airport (the full name is Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport) or Montreal-Trudeau is the busiest airport in the province of Quebec. The current capacity of the airport is estimated at 16 million and will be increased up to 25 million after the completion of the expansion plan. Located in a large metropolitan area and a popular tourist destination, the airport is served by Canadian and international airways providing direct flights within the country as well as around the world. In total, it serves more international destinations than any other Canadian airport.
Formerly known as Montreal-Dorval International Airport, it was renamed in 2004 in honour of Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, though you may still see some signs with the previous name. The airport is located approximately 19 kilometers (12 miles) from the Montreal city centre making it more convenient than Montreal-Mirabel Airport, which is a longer distance from the city.
