St. Sofia Church. This old basilica which dates back from the 4th to 6th century has beautifully made mosaic details which have been able to survive all throughout the years. If you want to visit the grave of Bulgaria's national poet, Ivan Vazov, you can look for the engrave boulder which serves as its mark that is located near St. Sofia Church

For those who want to fill their stomachs with delightful local delicacies, you're sure to have a lot of option. There are a wide variety of Eastern European restaurants. You'll be pleasantly surprised to know that food and drinks in restaurants and bars are very cheap. Local Bulgarian cuisine is definitely a feast for one's eating pleasure, the shopska salad, made of a combination of fresh vegetables and generous amounts of feta cheese is something that you shouldn't forget to try.The tarator, which is a kind of cold soup, made out of yogurt plus a mix of other unusual ingredients is also one of the popular foods in the city.
