Mallorca for Families
Mallorca is extremely popular with families, and after some exploration it’s easy to see why. The Spanish are renowned for their welcoming attitude towards children in their bars and restaurants and when you combine this with Mallorca’s countless sandy beaches, excellent array of outdoor activities and wonderful climate; this makes for an ideal family holiday. With it only taking two hours to drive across the island, you’re never too far away from one of the many excellent family-friendly resorts and attractions on offer.
Family Waterparks
Spain is famous for its incredible waterparks, ideal for a fun-packed day out for all the family.
- Aqualandia (Binnissalem): A veritable haven for children, which combines a waterpark, swimming pool and adventure playground as well as crazy golf and a waxworks museum.
- Aqua City (Platja de Palma): This large water theme park combines a variety of water rides for all sizes and also its own zoo and children’s farm.
- Aquapark (Magaluf): This long-established waterpark features swimming pools, slides, a water castle and an adjacent go karting track for older children.
Zoos, Horseriding and Animal Parks
There are also plenty of other family-friendly attractions to amuse youngsters should you want a change from the beach.
- Nemo Submarines (Magaluf): Offers an amazing two-hour exploration on a mini-submarine showing the fauna and flora beneath the sea.
- Marineland (Portals Nous): A day out adults and children alike are unlikely to forget. Here at this excellent sea life centre, see performing dolphins, sealions and parrots, the reptile house, the aviary, sharks, tropical fish, monkeys, flamingos and a charming miniature train, which transports visitors around its grounds.
- Acuarium de Mallorca (Porto Cristo): Also a visit of worth. This small aquarium is home to many species of tropical fish including piranhas and electric eels.
- Calvia Pony Club (Son Punta): Welcomes horse riders of all ages and abilities, with special beginner courses available for children.
Go-Karting
Aimed more at children than adults; go-karting is a common activity in Spain. In Mallorca, Magaluf and Playa de Palma are where you will find many excellent tracks - the most notable of these being Magaluf Karting, next to Aqualandia.
Family-friendly beaches
- Alcudia: Situated in a beautiful bay on the north-east coast of Mallorca, this beach offers a child-friendly area and a host of activities such as crazy golf and a small waterpark geared towards families.
- Palma Nova: Here, excellent beaches where toddlers and children can paddle are near major attractions such as Marineland and other waterparks. Set in a scenic horseshoe bay,
- Sa Coma: For something a little quieter; Sa Coma is perfect. A beautiful sandy beach offers watersports to older children and adults, and also has a traffic-free promenade and a small safari park.
- Cala Bona: Also a quiet spot to bathe in with beautiful sandy beaches, Cala Bona is also host to amazing caverns.

Golf has had a presence on the island from the mid-1960s since the now-famous Son Vida Golf Club near Palma opened its doors. 18 hole golf courses can be found across the island, with many served by the “autopista” system stretching from Palma de Mallorca airport as far as Palma Nova. It is here on the west side of the island where the majority of Mallorca’s golf courses are situated, with no less than eight high quality resorts all within close proximity of the airport.
- Bendinat: Regarded as one of the most formidable in the west side of the island, it also accommodates golfers of varying ability. Set in an almost endless woodland valley, the King of Spain is known to frequent its greens, which takes in amazing sea views and pine valley.
- Pollensa Golf Course and Alcanada Golf: Found in the north of Mallorca, sat amongst beautiful rolling terrain and has a backdrop of the surrounding hills and sea.
- Capderpera: Located in stunning green countryside and served by six lakes, this Don Maples designed course is considered one of the best on the island.
- Son Antem West Golf Course: A championship standard course, built by US-based hotel firm Marriot and designed for experienced golfers who relish a challenge.
