Holidays in Ibiza |
 |
It’s hard to imagine that Ibiza was once a relatively unknown and unvisited island in comparison to neighbouring Mallorca, but since the 1950s Ibiza has enjoyed a thriving tourism industry and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
The island is famous for its hedonistic nightlife and club culture, with many of the world’s most famous nightclubs populating its towns. However, away from the crowds and the noise; Ibiza is also a perfect destination for families with its hidden coves, stunning white sand beaches, rural villages and picture-perfect countryside.

Ibiza for Families |
 |
Away from the nightspots and loud music, Ibiza has also established itself as a holiday paradise for families looking to enjoy the warm Mediterranean climate and beautiful beaches. With plenty of activities on offer to keep both adults and children entertained, we’ve highlighted a few to help make the most of your stay on this versatile island.
- Most resorts have parks and play areas, however the best of these can be found at Playa ‘en Bossa (which includes a large funfair) and Cala Longa (which is by a large, beautiful beach).
- The Medieval Castle of Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town includes battlements, winding passageways and tunnels. A stairwell will bring you to the top of the castle and offers stunning views of the surrounding areas.
- Boat trips are on offer from Ibiza town and San Antonio, which take you to Cala Bassa, Cala Conta, Cala Tarida and Formentera.
- A large bowling complex which includes crazy golf, a play area and eating facilities can be found at Playa d’en Bossa
- Like Mallorca, Ibiza is host to many waterparks. The large park at Portinatx includes slides, water pools as well as special areas for infants and youngsters
- Visit the stalactite caves at C'an Marca in the cliffs above Puerto de San Miguel.

Family-Friendly Beaches
Despite being a small island, Ibiza has over 80 excellent beaches to choose from and most provide excellent opportunities for youngsters to bathe and paddle. The beaches range in size (some stretching for more than three miles) but here are some of the best:
- Playa d’en Bossa, Playa Figueretes and Playa de Talamanca are fairly busy beaches, but are all within easy reach of Ibiza Town centre.
- On the west side of the island is the large tourist town of San Antonio. It is served by two main beaches (Playa de San Antonio and Es Pouet). These are bolstered by excellent local amenities and shops.
- For quieter beaches, head out of San Antonio to Cala Longa and Santa Eulalia where you will discover some beautiful little coves in natural settings of pine trees and conifers.
- Many of Ibiza’s most picturesque beaches are to be found at the north eastern corner of the island, accessible only by 4x4, on foot, or by boat, but are well worth the effort. These include Cala Mastella.
- Portinatx to the north boasts arguably Ibiza’s most attractive beaches, including a horseshoe bay with gorgeous white sands enclosed by pine woods.
