Asamkirche (Asam Church)
Originally built as a private chapel by the Asma brothers, this rocco building is lavishly decorated with a magnificent ceiling fresco.

Deutsches Museum A world leader amongst science and technology museums, the Deutsches museum is a sure hit with all age groups. Inside you will find a planetarium, sailing ships, fighter jets and classic cars amongst the many exhibits.
Englischer Garten One of the world’s largest parks, the Englischer Garten is an enjoyable retreat from city life. Running for over 5km, the park has been charmingly landscaped with streams, hills, a large lake and intriguing buildings including a Chinese Tower, English Summer House and Japanese Tea House.
Munich Cathedral The twin domed spires of the Gothic Frauenkirche are one of the city’s best known landmarks and a lift takes visitors up one of the towers for panoramic views of the city. Inside this vast building, you will find 15th century stained glass, bronze statues and the ornate tomb of Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian.
Hofbrauhaus
This must be the best known beer hall in the whole of Munich, offering a traditional „keller“ experience to visitors. Tourists line the long tressle tables, sampling the local ale in enormous steins to the sounds of a traditional band.
Neues Rathaus Each morning Marienplatz fills with visitors, looking upwards at the New Town Hall which dominates the square. On the stroke of 11, an entourage of mechanical figures re-enact the festivities surrounding the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V to Renate von Lothringne to the tunes of the glockenspiel. Across the square you will also see the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) and a marble column carrying the statue of the Virgin Mary.
Olympiapark Built for the 1972 Olympics, this park is a popular recreation area with good sporting facilities including a skating rink, swimming pool and tennis courts.
At its heart is the imposing Olympic Tower, offering extensive views of the city and the neighbouring mountains. Book a table in the revolving restaurant at the very top for an extra treat – it may take a minute to accustom yourself to the movement but both the food and the views are equally impressive.
The Residenz
This huge Baroque palace sits in the heart of the city, impressively restored to house several museums including the Agyptische Kinst (Egyptian Collection), Treasury and Coin Museum. |
