Exploring the cities and surrounding countryside
A family-friendly event taking place this summer is Chalon’s Centre National Des Arts Du Cirque.
This immense circus takes place at the Parc de la Villette, demonstrating the latest acts under a large big-top. This year’s star attraction will be dancer Fatou Traoré, who will perform her La Part du Loup routine as part of this year’s theme of skill, strength and grace.
Also taking place in the park is the Scènes d'Été season of concerts. This festival sees music of a variety of genres come to the stage across three weekends every summer. This year’s dates are 11/12 July, 18/19 July and 22/23 August.
Another popular summer event is the Moonlit Cinema of Paris happening on August 29 and 30. Crowds of up to 500 people gather for the free screenings at the Butte de Montmartre and Parc de Choisy.
Others may prefer the Summer Arts Festival happening all around Paris between July 1 and August 31. The streets will be filled with performing artists from around the world, celebrating every expression imaginable, from music, to film, to circus, to dance and more. Venues range from small, intimate theatres and cinemas to the Jardin des Tuileries for larger events, with many of them free to the public.
