Narbonne
Narbonne boasts a number of fantastic beaches, whether you are travelling as a couple or as a family. Narbonne’s north beach is particularly good if travelling with children. Here you will find a good array of shops and restaurants, not to mention an immensely spacious beach that also features a large play area for youngsters.
If you are looking for something a little quieter, make the short walk along the coast or drive to Narbonne’s south beach. Although you won’t find the amenities of north beach, here you are able to escape the crowds to relax by the sea in your own tranquil space.

Leucate plage
Definitely consider heading to the small village of Leucate. Two excellent beaches can be found between here, both framed by attractive green hills in the backdrop. Both are served by fine golden sands, deep, clean blue waters and also a bar and restaurant as well as watersport activities (particularly surfing and windsurfing) to keep you fully entertained during your stay.
The area has a reputation for being windy but the long expanses of beach with historic vineyards and rugged mountains as a backdrop make it a particularly pretty corner of France.
Serignan Plage near Agde
If heading towards Adge, you will have a wide number of beaches at your disposal, particularly those attracting a large number of tourists such as Portiragnes, Vendres and Cap d’Agde itself.
However, those who prefer to steer clear of the crowds to simply soak up the beauty of their surroundings and that of the coast should head for Serignan. The beach here is situated in a rural setting, punctuated by grassy sandbanks, fine sands and a pretty inland lake at the north end of the beach. There aren’t as many facilities here as some of the other local beaches but there is a small restaurant close to the beach and there are pony rides available in high season for children.
