Car Hire in Qatar

Before you book your car hire in Qatar, why not read through our Qatar driving guide...

Qatar is an Asian land where you are sure to have a lot of desert adventures. It is a country where Mediterranean culture and tradition is apparent. A great way to see the country is by organising car hire for your trip. With Car Hire 3000 you can book your car hire in Qatar today to be picked up when you arrive in the country.

Driving in Qatar is done on the right hand side of the road. Unlike in some countries of the Middle East, women are allowed to drive. A valid driving licence from your country is geberally acceptable to drive in Qatar, but it is always best to get in touch with the Embassy, just to be on the dafe side.

If you intend to hire a car for your local transport, the best type to hire is a 4x4. There are some areas there that could be quite tricky for a regular car, and driving a 4x4 would make your trip much easier.

On highways and motorways, the maximum speed limit implemented is at 120 kph. If you are entering a city, the maximum speed limit goes down to 100 kph. Once you are already inside the city proper, urban areas, and residential zones, the maximum speed allowed is further lowered. Speed limits can vary fromplace to place so you should always check local signs and be aware of the limit at all times.

Driving in Qatar may mean driving with caution at all times. The roads could be bumpy and may not be of UK  standards. Major roads tend to be properly maintained and well lit although still several are not. Given the case, tourists are not encouraged to drive at night. Also, beware of camels and other animals trudging on the roadsides as they could suddenly cross your path.

Drinking and driving is not tolerated in Qatar. Follow the rule of thumb: never drink if you have to drive. Seatbelts are also mandatory. All passengers should be properly buckled up for safety purposes.

Summary:

  • Seatbelts should always be worn
  • Children should sit in the back
  • Children under 4 should use a child seat
  • For safety reasons, you should never drink and drive
