In Latvia. driving is done on the right hand side of the road. Your vehicle's lights should always be turned on while driving, no matter what time of the day it is. There are no toll roads, but you will need to acquire a parking disc in order to park in most towns.
On motorways, you are permitted to drive up to the maximum speed of 100 kph. Outside built-up areas, the fastest speed allowed is lowered to 90 km/h. And inside built-up areas, you can only drive at 50 km/h maximum.
There are very stringent drunk driving laws in , so you should never drink if you are thinking of driving.
As a general rule, the driver and his passengers while driving at any country in Europe should always wear seat belts. Children should also sit in the back seat and not in the front. A car safety seat should also be provided for under 4’s.
Petrol is readily available and petrol stations can be found on most main roads. There are a number of 24 hour petrol stations, particularly in large towns.
